While a replay is open, a strip sits under the chart. Its left end is a date button showing the replay cursor in New York time, or Select date before you have started. An open position adds a live profit and loss figure at the right end.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Date button | Opens a calendar with Go to date, or Start from date before a replay begins. It also holds Select first available date, the Auto log to journal switch and Select bar on chart. |
| Step back | Moves the cursor back by the chosen update interval and rewinds your paper account to that bar. |
| Play and Pause | Autoplay at the chosen speed. |
| Step forward | Reveals the next bar, or as many bars as the update interval covers. |
| Speed | 0.5x, 1x, 2x or 4x. |
| Update interval | 1 bar, 1m, 5m, 15m, 30m, 1h, 4h or 1D. Intervals shorter than one bar of your timeframe are disabled. |
| Jump to realtime | Leaves the replay and returns the chart to the live end. |
| Close | Cancels the bar pick, or exits the replay once it is running. |
Keyboard
| Keys | Action |
|---|---|
| Shift + Right Arrow | Step forward one bar. |
| Shift + Down Arrow | Play or pause. |
| J | Start or cancel selecting a bar on the chart to jump to. |
| Escape | Cancel a bar selection. |
Jumping
Use Select bar on chart and click a candle, or pick a date and press Go to date. A jump teleports the cursor, so QuantLab closes any open position at that moment and drops resting replay orders instead of filling them on bars you never saw.
Stepping back
Stepping back rewinds your paper account to the bar you land on. Fills and stop or target brackets that happened after that bar are undone, and orders you placed on later bars are dropped. Playing forward again records over the discarded future.
Locked challenge rooms disable the controls that would let you leave early.
