Docs / Indicator Lab

The build workspace and Test on chart

Chat on the left, chart on the right, and how a build gets drawn.

Once your first build finishes, the Lab saves it and opens the build workspace at its own address. The thread you were in comes with you. The chat is on the left, and a Backtester chart is on the right.

Test on chart

Press Test on chart on a build card. The Lab saves the build if it is not saved yet, then draws it on the chart in place, with no page change. The button appears only on builds that have a runnable form, so a Pine-only build has no Test on chart button.

Testing a later version redraws the same chart item instead of stacking a copy for each version. A script the chart cannot translate reports its own error on the chart.

Layout

  • Drag the divider to resize the chat panel, or focus it and use the arrow keys. Hide assistant gives the chart the full width.
  • The top bar shows the four steps of a build: Define, Confirm, Build and Use.
  • The Saved button lists your saved builds, with search, so you can switch between them.
  • On a phone, Thread and Chart are tabs instead of side by side.

Opening a saved build with Iterate also lands in the workspace.

The QuantLab and Partnered tabs and the library open the Backtester with that indicator already added. The Backtester docs cover the chart, the replay controls and the order ticket.
